COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION ICING MIXES, POWDER
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
1. SCOPE.
1.1 This Commercial Item Description (CID) covers the following powdered icing mixes, packed in commercially acceptable containers, suitable for use by the Federal Government, which, when combined with water, will form an icing for bakery products.
2. CLASSIFICATION.
2.1 The powdered icing mixes shall conform to the types in the following list which shall be specified in the solicitation, contract, or purchase order.
Types.
Type I - Chocolate flavored
Type II - Vanilla flavored
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
3.1 Finished product: The powdered icing mixes shall contain powdered sugar, emulsified shortening (12 to 14 percent by weight of the formula), nonfat dry milk (not to exceed 3 percent by weight of the formula), and anticaking agents.
